100MM DIAMOND POLISHING PADS FOR GRANITE QRS (VELCRO) BACKED
|
|
100mm diameter. Chunky 4mm thick with colour coded velcro backing. Ideal for polishing stone, but also popular for polishing concrete and masonry.
DIAMOND POLISHING PADS
Diamond polishing pads feature a resin based diamond surface in various grits, with a velcro backing, The velcro backing enables quick changes between pads, with backing discs available in either rigid plastic or flexible rubber. The backing discs have a M14 or 5/8” female thread.
Grit size starts at #50, runs through #100, #200, #400, #800, #1500, #3000 and then white or black buffs, (whichever matches your material colour). Grades can be skipped depending on the finish required. #400 typically leaves a honed finish. The standard polishing pad is 100mm diameter, which we supply in either 2.2mm or 4mm thicknesses. The 2.2mm is very flexible, and widely used for polishing benchtops of natural or engineered stone. It has also proven succesful in polishing concrete surfaces. The 4mm pad is a lot less flexible, and has been adapted to use on CN edge polishing mchines, and floor polishers. It has a much longer service life than the 2.2mm pads. The 75 & 100mm pads are available in a convex shape, for polishing the internal curves of sink cut-outs or ogee profiles. We also supply 75mm and 125mm diameter pads, which suit smaller or larger machines. A new innovation is the use of DRY polishing pads. These feature a different diamond matrix, and can be used on standard machinery without the use of water. They work very well on all stone types, but are a more expensive option than the standard wet type of pad. We can also supply the dry sanding pads in sheet form, up to 250 x 500mm, for custom machinery.
INSTRUCTIONS: Secure workpiece, and using diamond tools get the surface to be polished as smooth as possible. If using wet polishing pads, ensure the machinery is approved for use with water, and all relevant safety precautions are followed. Starting with the 50 grit pad, begin polishing the stone. Between each grit, stop and dry the surface, ensuring scratches left by the previous pad are removed before progressing. By 3000 grit, the surface should be polished. Wet the stone and fit the buff pad (white for light coloured stone, black for dark coloured stone). Use the buff pad without water to generate heat. Once the water has evaporated, the stone should have a mirror-like shine. |
