Carbide lasts longer and requires less maintenance than steel; however, it is more vulnerable to breaking if placed on an uneven surface, so be sure to use the Carbide Bull Set on a sawed or polished block.

TROW & HOLDEN 10 lb carbide bull set, use with 32" handle
$600.00
($643.86 †)
For roughing out or shaping large blocks of stone. Using the Bull Set is a 2-person operation - one person holds the hammer angled on its edge, set in place along the edge of the area of stone to be removed, angling the blade slightly toward the outside of the stone. The other person then hits it with the striking hammer. With use, the breaking edge of the hammer will wear down; the hammer can then be turned around on it's handle and the other side used. NOTE: This hammer is not meant to be swung.
